THE HORSE AND THE WOLF CUB LIMITED EDITION PRINT

2012

ARCHIVAL PIGMENT PRINT ON HAHNEMUHLE PHOTO RAG 308GSM

30 X 42 CM

EDITION / 500

Paying homage to her favourite childhood illustrators Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone with a red Biro drawing inspired by one of their horse paintings and to Jane's muse Lily as a pup.

This artwork is an interpretation of mass produced 20th century prints and was inspired by a visit to the Romanian home of an 80 year old Transylvanian miller. Within one living space the miller slept, cooked and wove her rugs. On the wall above her bed was a colourful 1960's tapestry of Sleeping Beauty.

This piece symbolises man's propensity to collect and display decorative items. When these items are left behind in abandoned homes during war or disaster, the owners personal tastes and private collections become part of a large public exhibition of the abandoned for whoever enters their house, whether soldiers, looters, the curious or nature. Part of the series of drawings Tales from the East.
