Oceans Biro Drawing Workshop with Newcastle United Foundation

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
As part of her corporate partnership with and commitment to Newcastle United Foundation and their outstanding work in the North East community, Jane delivers voluntary workshops at NUF partner schools. This year she visited Meadowdale Academy, Bedlington with NUF Primary Area-Co-ordinator Alex Curran and met with Art Teacher Mr Daley, to deliver two workshops to Year 8.
NUF is committed to working with SkyTV on its Sky Ocean Rescue project so these Biro drawing workshops celebrated marine species. In her presentation, Jane highlighted Sky's project and ways we can help ocean wildlife:

Sky Ocean Rescue aims to shine a spotlight on the issues affecting ocean health, find innovative solutions to the problem of ocean plastics, and inspire people to make small everyday changes that collectively make a huge difference.

DRAWING SELECTION
Jane was blown away by the high standard of drawings produced by talented students who participated and was thrilled that Alex and class teachers also produced brilliant drawings!
Students only had around 40 minutes and worked exceptionally hard to create their excellent drawings in Biro with no pencil guidelines. There were even some enthusiastic students who worked into lunch to finish their drawings.
From Danielle's powerful drawings of Mako Sharks and Humpback Whale to Ethan's imaginative bank robber penguin, everyone's unique drawing styles were a joy to see. Some students strived to get their drawings right like Mark and Alysha made several studies before she created her brilliant walrus.
There were also drawings with sensitive and beautiful mark-making like Logan's Humpback Whale, all four crab drawings and Naomi's Surgeonfish. Others chose to express themselves using their imaginations with brilliant colour schemes, abstract forms or Anime inspiration such as Layla, Georgie, Bethany, Isla and Sydney's Surgeonfish, James's turtle and Michael's octopus.
