Yvette Thompson, Events and Communications Manager at Newcastle United Foundation, said:
“Jane’s artwork is absolutely amazing – the detail is wonderful. So many Newcastle landmarks are included – you spot something new every time you look at it! I am so pleased that Jane has chosen the Foundation as a beneficiary of such a fantastic celebration of life in Newcastle. Her fundraising will support our activity engaging and supporting the most disadvantaged people in our community.”
NEWCASTLE 2018 original Biro drawing Jane Lee McCracken
The Newcastle design is woven with images and symbolism that reflect the icons and spirit of this grand city, including the Tyne Bridge, magpies and St James's Park - the music of the Blaydon Races also plays along the side of the Tyne Bridge. In a deconstruction of Newcastle upon Tyne City Coat of Arms, a lion and two mythical seahorses are also represented. Their inclusion highlights the environmental aspect of this project, that humanity is entwined with the animal kingdom. More about the drawing and imagery here:

I LOVE THIS CITY COLLECTION grew from a passion for the city of Newcastle and Newcastle United. I created the original Newcastle drawing to say thank you to a city and its people who have welcomed me so warmly. The project celebrates cities and their communities as well as the local environment and I wanted both to benefit through the project. It's amazing to see these goals starting to be realised. I am so proud the project is supporting Newcastle United Foundation.
Here are some heartening stories about the people the Foundation has helped
