I LOVE THIS CITY / COLLECTION Pop-up Shop

I am thrilled my new project I LOVE THIS CITY / COLLECTION is not only coming to epic contemporary art gallery Thought Foundation as a pop-up shop, it is also part of the Great Exhibition of the North 'Inspired By' programme!  The North East is sizzling with arts and cultural events this summer and from 9 - 23 August 2018, in celebration of the great cities of Newcastle and Sunderland my magpies, seahorses and black panthers are flying, galloping and prowling through Thought Foundation.  The collection includes high quality men's and women's t-shirts made from 100% organic cotton, ethically sourced and digitally printed using eco-friendly inks as well as posters and prints, featuring my Biro drawings inspired by Newcastle and Sunderland. Collection products will be available to purchase in Thought Foundation shop during the event.

Large format limited edition prints of NEWCASTLE and SUNDERLAND reproduced from my original Biro drawings by one of the best printmakers in the industry will also be on display and for sale.  The artworks aim to celebrate these beating hearts of North East culture and innovation through "representations of their industrial heritages, glorious landmarks and homages paid to the football clubs synonymous with these one-club cities".  The inclusion of Newcastle United and Sunderland Association football clubs animal mascots, magpies and 'blackcats' respectively, also forms part of my art practice's exploration of loss generated by human destruction.

As an ongoing project more city collections are planned in the future.  So while the project celebrates the positive achievements of civilisation it also seeks to highlight that humanity is entwined with the animal kingdom. With a growing global realisation that we need our wildlife, I hope this project will also raise environmental awareness at a local and global level.  Thought Foundation's alluring current exhibition Thoughtful Planet 2, showcases the work of wonderful multi-disciplinary artists responding to environment issues. It is therefore with great pride that my pop-up shop will open for two weeks during this exhibition.
