'TV Screen II - Where Wolves and Bears Dare', 2009 'Tales from the East' Series Colour Biro Drawing 30cm x 42cm

This colour drawing was inspired by the Chernobyl, after people had fled the countryside around the disaster zone. With humans gone wildlife took over the homes of the previous occupants and a parallel between the tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears was drawn as bears became the new occupants. Taking photographs of the Discovery Channel documentary ‘Chernobyl: Life in The Dead Zone’, layers from five images were used as inspiration, weaving together a wolf, a bear, a kitten and toys of the former occupants into a new interior setting where ‘wolves and bears’ dare to roam. This piece represents the harmony nature regains without human disruption and Nature’s infallibility to human destruction.
